The Ayuntamiento de Teguise have confirmed their programme of events for Christmas, New Year & Kings on the island of La Graciosa.
Events for Christmas include a nativity scene in the lovely fisherman’s church, Eucharist including a Rancho de Pascua, children’s activities, a New Year’s Eve celebration which will be televised with an audience surpassing 400,000 and the arrival of the three kings by boat.
Oswaldo Betancort, the Mayor of Teguise, Daniel Morales, the councillor for Fiestas and Guillermo García the Director General of Radiotelevisión Canaria presented details of the special programme to be broadcast live on New Year’s Eve. The live broadcast will include the chimes from the quaint Virgen del Mar church in the Plaza de la Iglesia of La Graciosa, marking the Fin de Año and New Year.
“It is the most important day of the year for Radiotelevisión Canaria", said Guillermo García at the start of the presentation, adding that “The night of the 31st December is a historic night, because it is the first time that we will transmit a signal worldwide and during this extraordinary event, the citizens of La Graciosa will be the real stars, to whom I am grateful for their enthusiasm and excitement that they have demonstrated over the past few days.“
