Congratulations to the Lanzarote Aquarium in Costa Teguise who were listed in the top ten aquariums of Spain.
The aquariums selected were noted as having some of the best facilities in Europe where you can observe the rich variety of marine biodiversity and understand the importance of conservation. The report which is published on www.consumer.es lists the ten aquariums in alphabetical order.
Our aquarium in Lanzarote is the largest in the Canary Islands with over a million litres of water contained in 33 tanks and hundreds of marine species. The centre tank holds 400,000 litres of water and has an underwater tunnel where you can walk through an area with several species of sharks. Children can touch species like sea cucumber and starfish as well as see the “trash tank” to raise awareness of the poor state of the sea in certain areas.
We enjoyed our visit to the Lanzarote Aquarium, if you haven’t already been it’s definitely somewhere to explore on your next visit.
