The provisional dates for the sea swim races held each summer in Lanzarote have been announced, these nine events are collectively known as the IV Copa Aguas Abiertas 2013.
These swim events have proved popular not just with residents and local swimming clubs but for tourists who time their holidays in order to participate. There’s a great atmosphere on the day with different distance races held to include the youngest swimmers to adults, followed by food and awards.
1st June VI Travesía Playa del Jablillo in Costa Teguise. A distance of 2000m, organised by Club Nadamas.
22nd June IX Travesía San Juan RCNA in Arrecife. A distance of 1200m, organised by Real Club Náutico Arrecife.
13th July Bahía de Playa Blanca. A distance of 1500m, organised by Club Tri Vulcano.
27th July III Travesía Hesperia Lanzarote in Puerto Calero. A distance of 1500m, organised by M2Action.
11th August Travesía Playa Grande – Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen. A distance of 1600m, organised by the Ayuntamiento of Tías & C.D. Fariones.
17th August XIX Travesía San Ginés RCNA in Arrecife. A distance of 1200m organised by the Real Club Náutico Arrecife.
1st September Travesia Punta Mujeres. A distance of 2000m, organised by the Ayuntamiento of Haría and M2Action.
28th September XXI Travesía a Nado El Río from Lanzarote to La Graciosa. A distance of 2800m, organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
6th October V Travesía Lude Nonadamos in Arrecife. A distance of 1600m, organised by C.N. Nonadamos.
