After more than 10 years of debate, approval has finally been agreed for the project to extend the harbour in Playa Blanca.
Gladys Acuña, the Mayor of Yaiza welcomed the decision taken by the vast majority of political groups and thanked them publically for their concern and interest in a project that it vital to Yaiza, which includes the resort of Playa Blanca in the south of Lanzarote. The harbour extension project is worth over 40 million euros, it’s taken over ten years to gain the final approval from the three governments involved.
The port of Playa Blanca is currently used by around one million passengers and two hundred thousand vehicles a year connecting the islands of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura.
