A 59 year old British national died during a dive yesterday morning off the coast of Puerto del Carmen in Lanzarote.
The man suffered a cardiac arrest whilst diving near the old harbour of the resort. An emergency 112 call was made at 10:36 am on the 4th May where it was reported a man had been rescued from the water, onto a boat suffering from a cardiac arrest. The boat transported the diver to the harbour where medical personal and an ambulance were waiting. Sadly despite all attempts to revive him with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The resort of Puerto del Carmen is extremely popular with divers, which offers a range of stunning dives just off the coast. It's believed that the man was diving with Safari who operate from Playa Chica in the resort, and on holiday with friends at the time of the incident.
Our condolences to his family and friends.
