Lanzarote was the inspiration for the new 911 Porsche video which was filmed here to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 911 and the 40th of the turbo version.
The latest model of the Porsche 911 will go on sale in September with the Turbo (520 hp) and Turbo S (560 hp).
It was the rugged coastline of El Golfo that attracted the German manufacturers, the drive past Los Hervideros where the smooth tarmac cuts through the jagged volcanic landscape, next to the deep blue powerful waves of the Atlantic ocean.
The video features volcanic scenes from Lanzarote as well as describing the performance and features of the car. It’s not the first time that Porsche have been to Lanzarote, they shipped in 42 cars in January 2009 which were predominantly Boxters, but also a few 911 and Cayenne models for a promotion based in Puerto Calero with scenic drives around Lanzarote.
Lanzarote’s Tourist Board have adopted a strategic promotion of the island through Lanzarote Film Commission.
