American film director, producer and actor Ron Howard spent time in Lanzarote last week researching locations for his next film Heart of the Sea.
Lanzarote wasn’t the only one of the Canary Islands that Ron visited, his Twitter account published photos from the island of La Gomera too.
Heart of the Sea is an adaptation of the novel by Nathaniel Philbrick, which covers the tragedy of the Whaleship Essex from Nantucket after it was stalked and destroyed by a sperm whale in 1820. The twenty strong crew were stranded in three tiny whaleboats in the South Pacific, thousands of miles from home, eight members managed to survive starvation, disease and dehydration to be rescued after 90 days.
Filming of this Warner Bros epic is due to commence this September in London and on location, which of course we hope will feature the beautiful coastline of Lanzarote.
