We get invited to some pretty unusual things these days, but this was one of the funniest!
You may know Spice- it’s a “Lifestyle” and naturist resort in Puerto del Carmen, which to you and I translates as a Swinger’s place. We aren’t Swingers, but we do know that Spice has been going great guns this year, and we visited there before they opened for business, and the place is fabulous!
They closed down for a few days recently to carry out some refurbishment in preparation for being fully booked over Christmas and the new year. Owners Tracy and Dean decided to use a day to thank their staff for their hard work this year and to give them a Christmas party of their own to enjoy.
They asked us if we would be paparazzi for the morning!
They met up with their staff on the beach in Puerto del Carmen and then split them into teams. Each team were given a life sized doll, and they were then asked to beg or borrow items to turn their doll into a Spice Girl – baby, sporty, scary, ginger and posh.
They were told that they then had to be “papped” in Puerto del Carmen, which was where we came in.
It was a good laugh, and local taxi drivers, restaurant PR’s and shop owners all got involved in the mad dash up and down the strip as the teams gradually got their girls to look more and more like Spice Girls.
We had been issued with special orange paparazzi T shirts for the day, and we got some great shots by appearing suddenly from behind bushes and alley ways.
Once the game was completed the team returned to Spice, where the plan was for the staff to enjoy a day being pampered and served by the management team.
It was good fun for all involved, and good to see the large team of staff from Spice enjoying such an unusual and fun filled Christmas “do.”
