You’ll be seeing more of this image around the island as a new campaign called "Consume en Lanzarote" is launched.

Comercio_Local

The message behind the campaign is to support businesses on the island, by shopping local.

Launched by Cámara, the chamber of commerce in Lanzarote, the campaign is sponsored by CajaSiete and local media. The initiative is intended to be a wake up call, as money spent in Lanzarote, is reinvesting in our island. When we buy from our local shops, we are directly supporting our employment and indirectly supporting our culture, sport and social work that these companies support within Lanzarote.

When we shop in Lanzarote, we invest in the present but also the future, we can contribute to our economic growth, help to maintain jobs and encourage entrepreneurs.

Imagine the future if our local shops close due to a lack of customers,  we would then need to shop online or leave the island to buy goods elsewhere.

Big_Win

By supporting local businesses, we all win!

The objectives of the campaign are:

To promote responsible consumption by raising local awareness and responsibility.

To promote small businesses and boost the island’s economy, if we maintain our economic space, we maintain our employment which in turn creates stability and new business / employment opportunities.

Recognise the importance of local businesses in our community, if local trade languishes, so does the culture.

The target audience for the campaign have been identified as people who are typically aged from 25 to 55, they have access to the internet & social media and are accustomed to buying online or travel to buy goods outside of Lanzarote.

The message:

Please remember to shop local and support Lanzarote, that means selecting our produce in the supermarkets, supporting your corner shop, don’t buy online from the mainland and Europe, look first to see if you can buy here on the island in Lanzarote. It might mean a little bit of inconvenience, a bit more time, visiting 3 or 4 shops to complete your weekly shopping but it will boost Lanzarote’s economy, our employment and our communities.
