An Intercity bus on route from Playa Blanca to Arrecife caught fire yesterday afternoon in the resort of Puerto del Carmen.
The driver of the bus pulled over on Calle Achagua when he noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle and a few passengers were evacuated.
Despite being only a few moments away from the voluntary fire station at the top of Calle César Manrique, firefighters extinguished the fire but were unable to save the bus which was virtually destroyed in the incident.
It’s the second Intercity bus to catch fire this year, the first incident was in June when an unoccupied bus caught fire whilst travelling on the Circunvalación ring road in Arrecife.
Thankfully, no one was injured on either occasion.
