English cinema in Lanzarote 28 Nov

At Atlantida Cinemas in Arrecife the movies remain the same, except for Insidious 2 which has finished.

At 19:35 Blue Jasmine. Woody Allen's new film where Cate Blanchett plays a New York socialite, deeply troubled and in denial, arrives in San Francisco to impose upon her sister. She looks a million, but isn't bringing money, peace, or love... The cast also includes Alec Baldwin who plays Jasmine's husband and Peter Sarsgaard. This bitter-sweet movie has had very good reviews for both the director and Cate's performance.

At 19:45 Thor: The Dark World.  Faced with an enemy that even Odin (Anthony Hopkins) cannot withstand, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.Alan Taylor has taken over Kenneth Branagh as director of this second instalment and some people say it's actually better than the first one, despite of having "dark" in the title, it has it’s funny moments and, of course, it's still filled with special effects.

At Deiland Cinemas in Playa Honda:

Newly being shown at 19:45 The family. The Manzonis, a notorious mafia clan, relocate to Normandy under the witness protection program. Fitting in in a  sleepy French town soon becomes challenging as their old habits die hard. Despite of the stellar contributions of Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Tommy Lee Jones under the direction of Luc Besson, this black comedy has very weak, not to say bad, reviews. Watch at your own peril.

And last, but not least, Ender's Game still showing at 20:00. Starring Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley. A sci-fi war movie that tells us about Young Ender Wiggin (played by Asa Butterfield who was in Hugo & The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas) who is recruited by the International Military to lead the fight against the Formecs, a genocidal alien race which nearly annihilated the human race in a previous invasion. This adaptation of Orson Scott Card's book is getting mixed reviews. Go to see it for yourself, that's what I say.

Happy cinema going!
