The XVII Open de Canarias de Ala Delta will be held in Lanzarote from today, the 1st December until the 7th.
Official registration was held at the Aparthotel Los Zocos in Costa Teguise yesterday, this event attracts highly ranked pilots from all over the world. The objective of the competition is to establish the Champion of the Canaries and the winner of the XVII Open de Canarias.
This is a free flight competition with eight different locations around the island, the organisers want to raise the level of knowledge and tactics between the participants, as well as developing friendships between the pilots. The launch sites include:
Mala Dam: 195m - Facing Northeast
Órzola: 421m - Facing North
La Asomada: 424m - Facing east
Hueso Left: 256m - Facing Northwest
Hueso Right: 255m - Facing Northwest
Chimidas: 148m - Facing West
Cerro Terroso: 420m - Facing Northwest
El Cuchillo: 125m - Facing North
There are nine trophies to be awarded at the end of the week, the top three pilots in the Campeón de Canarias 2013, top three pilots in the Open International, a club trophy and a trophy for the Sport and Clase 5 classifications.
The competition has been organised by local hang gliding Club de Vuelo Libre Zonzamas.
