The English movies have all been scheduled for the Atlántida Cinema in Arrecife on Thursday 19th of December.
The much awaited The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will be shown from today onwards in Spanish. If you want to see it in English, you'll have to wait until next Thursday at 20:35
The dwarves, along with Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) and Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen), continue their quest to reclaim Erebor, their homeland, from the dragon Smaug. But guess what? Bilbo Baggins is in possession of a mysterious and magical ring...
And what the critics say? Mixed reviews again, most saying that it's bigger and better than the former instalment by director Peter Jackson. Some others say there still is (too much?) trudging through forests. Then again, like any screen adaptations, the prequel to J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy was bound to dissappoint a few.
Also on Thursday at 19:40, Diana. Naomi Watts highly criticized portrayal of Princess Diana who embarks on a final rite of passage during the last two years of her life: a secret love affair with Pakistani heart surgeon Hasnat Khan (Naveen Andrews, you'll remember him surely from TV series Lost).
It's been described as a fabulously awful movie. Need to say more?
And finally, remaining unchanged at 19:45 The Counselor, written by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men) and directed by Ridley Scott. A rich and successful lawyer called Counsellor (Michael Fassbender), finds himself in over his head when he gets involved in drug trafficking after meeting middle-man known as Westray (Brad Pitt) as he is about to get married to his fiancée (Penelope Cruz).
The critics seem to agree that the story looks great on paper but fails to deliver. I say go to see it and judge for yourself: with Cameron Diaz and Javier Bardem, completing the cast, there is at least eye candy for men and women alike!
