After Christmas in Lanzarote, our thoughts turn towards the carnival season, the poster for Arrecife’s carnival has just been presented.
The Arrecife Carnival 2014 poster is the work of painter, Carlos Matallana Manrique. This year’s theme is the Olympic Games which is represented by a discus thrower on the distinctive Puente de las Bolas bridge.
We will publish the full carnival programme as it’s confirmed closer to the event which takes place from the 22nd of February to the 5th of March this year. The programme normally starts with the competition of the murga groups, selection of the carnival queen and the gala drag queen night.
The carnival procession will be held in the capital on Monday 3rd of March and the burial of the sardine on Wednesday 5th.
