The 3rd edition of the "Feria del Queso" will take place in Playa Blanca next Saturday the 22nd and Sunday the 23rd of March.
Under the "Saborea Lanzarote" brand this event offers the opportunity to sample not only the cheeses that the island has to offer, but its wines and tapas from local restaurants.
The fact that this year’s event takes place over the course of two days, instead of one as in previous editions, is proof of its growing popularity.
Eight cheesemongers will be present including: La flor de Teguise, La Atalaya, Filo El Cuchillo, Rubicón, Montaña Blanca, Finca de Uga, Tinache and Prolasa.
Seven restaurants will offer their bite size delicacies: La taberna de Nino, Mirador de las salinas, Casa Brígida, Casa Torano, Lanzarote Cocina, Lanzarote Wine&Cheese Gastrobar and Pastelería artesanal Casa Matilde.
And there will be five wineries to choose from to taste the local wines: Tierra de volcanes, El Grifo, Guiguán, La Geria and Reymar (Los Perdomos).
There will be also a live cooking show with recipes using cheese, led by the chef Juan Carlos Clemente from Tenerife and local chefs Carlos Pérez, from Restaurante Isla de Lobos and Pedro Santana from Restaurante Casa Brígida. These demonstrations will take place between 19:00 and 20:00 on Saturday and 13:00 and 14:00 on Sunday.
The Cheese Fair will be open from 18:00 a 23:00 hours on Saturday and from 11:00 to 16.00 on Sunday. And the format will be the usual "tasting by tickets" costing €1 per taste and tickets sold in quantities of 5.
Entertainment will be provided with live music of the band "Los Salvapantallas" on Saturday night and a folkloric touch with "Parranda Rubicón" on Sunday morning.
A donation will also be made from the profits to the charity "Creciendo Yaiza" who help children with disabilities and difficulties from this municipality.
NB. The actual location of the fair is not mentioned in the programme details, we assume that it will be on Avenida Papagayo in the centre of town as last year, but will confirm asap.
