We’re now 6 months into 2014 and the tourism figures have been published for Lanzarote.
Thank you to everyone who has already visited the island this year and to those planning to do so in the next 6 months, Lanzarote has such loyal tourists who return year after year, we just wanted to let you know you’re very much appreciated!
Tourists
Lanzarote has received 1,127,465 tourists to the island during the first half of this year, 15.27% more than the same period of 2013.
Héctor Fernández from the Lanzarote Tourism Board , commented that “we cannot ignore the good figures received during the last months, we are close to reaching the accommodation limits for the island and we must refocus our efforts on on the loyalty of our tourists and increasing their spend on the island”.
Campaigns such as the European Sports Destination or Saborea Lanzarote to encourage sports & gastronomy tourism have been attributed to why the island has received more than one million tourists in the first six months of the year.
January, April & February were great months for tourism with an increase of 23.67%, 22.35% and 21.93% respectively of tourists compared to 2013, in contrast May reported an increase of just 5.67% against last year.
