Sun Park Living is the retirement community in Playa Blanca we have visited a few times. An unusual place, and one that is quite hard to describe, it offers incredible value accommodation for the over 50s and a communal lifestyle that suits the people who stay there. This piece is written by a visiting journalist and captures what Sun Park is all about very well.
I didn’t know what to expect from my visit to a ‘retirement community’ in Lanzarote. As someone at the younger end of the 50+ age range, I welcomed an escape from the tired toddlers on the plane – but I wasn’t ready to just doze in a deckchair all day!
But the moment my foot touched the tarmac I knew I’d come somewhere special. The sea sparkled and the sky was cloudless. As we drove towards the pretty seaside resort of Playa Blanca, no ugly high rises spoiled the view.
And then there was Sun Park; just five minutes walk from the beach.
