We’ve written before about the karting track at San Bartolomé, but quite a lot has changed there since, so we thought it was time to update you.
When John and Irene took the track over, it needed plenty of work and the karts were quite old. They bought new karts pretty much straight away, then embarked on an ambitious refurbishment of the track and all the facilities and their hard work has certainly paid off, with Go Karting San Bartolomé firmly placed at number one of the 63 attractions in Lanzarote on Trip Advisor!
It’s a good time for us to review what they can offer, and we’ve enjoyed some epic sessions there with family, friends and customers, so we’re speaking from experience!
Free Bus Service
There are 3 mini buses that run a shuttle service from all the resorts. Ask at your reception, or contact the track directly, using the link at the end of this post, to arrange to be picked up.
The Track
The track is the heart of the place and it’s a cracker! Unlike so many flat and boring tracks where you simply plant your right foot and keep it there while steering, the track at San Bartolomé rises and falls, is full of challenging corners and has an excellent main straight.
But it’s also been extended, almost doubling its size, and you can enjoy a super Grand Prix on the full double track.
The Team
The feedback we get from readers is always full of praise for the team at the track. They’re a multi-national bunch, from South America, Spain, Ireland and the UK, and their focus is on making sure everyone has a great time, in perfect safety.
The Karts
There are karts for everyone:
Electric kiddy karts for the littlest ones, on their own small track
160CC junior karts for the youngsters
200CC Grand Prix karts for everyone
320CC Competition karts for experienced drivers – these are FAST!
They are all in great condition and are maintained to the highest standards
The Famous Terrace
It has one of the best views in Lanzarote, down to the ocean, Puerto del Carmen and the airport, and it’s the ideal place to relax between drives, or for non-drivers to enjoy their time at the track.
There’s a big selection of cold drinks and alcohol, and if you’re peckish, the pizzas are fantastic. The terrace is equipped with television, video games and comfortable chairs and is a great platform for viewing the racing.
The Old Cars
John loves nothing more than buying old cars and restoring them to their former glory, and so far he has found a fabulous Rolls Royce Silver Shadow known as Bess, and a Mark Three Ford Cortina called Marilyn.
The two cars are put on display every day, and are a star attraction at the track.
The Racing
You can simply buy a ticket for track time, and you’ll be slotted into the next available race. Grand prix karts are for everyone, and the competition karts are for experienced drivers. The team will put you in with a group using similar machinery, so the racing will be both fun and competitive.
If you have a group of six or more, you can have a Grand Prix, where your group will be the only drivers on track for your races. You’ll have three qualifying races, a semi final and then a grand final, ending with a podium celebration with bubbly for the winner.
We love visiting Lanzarote Go Karting, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy it too.
