It’s December and time for our guide to everything Christmas in Lanzarote, there’s already lots of pre Christmas events to get you in the festive mood. We’ll continue to update this page with Christmas, New Year and Kings events, to make sure that you don’t miss out on all the festivities over the Christmas holidays in Lanzarote.

For those of you flying over for a Christmas holiday in Lanzarote, it will look and feel festive, even though the weather’s warm compared to the rest of Europe. We celebrate the same days although the presents are brought by the three wise men in January rather than Father Christmas on Christmas Day.

Christmas Eve is known locally as Nochebuena and typically celebrated with a family meal late in the evening followed by midnight mass.

Christmas Day is a public holiday although here gifts are normally exchanged during Kings in January.

Watch out on the 28th December, this is Santos Inocentes and similar to our April Fools day with lots of pranks and fake news stories.

New Year’s Eve or Nochevieja celebrations don’t start until the early morning, be prepared for a late one if you want to celebrate like the locals! The night starts on the stroke of midnight with the 12 grapes tradition of one per chime and a glass of cava to welcome the new year.

Kings processions with Los Reyes Magos will be held around the island on the 5th January, a very exciting time for local children, as the Feast of the Epiphany on the 6th is when they finally receive their Christmas presents.

We’ve listed Christmas themed events in date order below and will continue to add more as details are released closer to the holidays.

6th to 9thDecember Christmas Market (Puerto del Carmen)

The annual Christmas Market will take place in the Plaza de las Naciones in Puerto del Carmen, held in the evenings from 5pm there are lots of stalls, activities for children and live entertainment.

6th to 9th December Árbol Solidario (San Bartolomé)

Help Bodega Los Bermejos build their charity Christmas tree by attending events at the winery over the weekend. More details: Bodega Los Bermejos

10th December Christmas Fayre (Costa Teguise)

Tekkers on Avenida Islas Canarias, almost opposite Pueblo Marinero in Costa Teguise are holding a Christmas Fayre at 19:00. There will be Christmas gifts, crafts, cakes and Santa as well as an open jam session with proceeds to Breast Cancer Care.

12th December Christmas Concert (San Bartolomé)

The students from the music school Toñín Corujo are performing a Christmas concert in the municipal theatre at 19:00.

14th December Cinderella Pantomime (Puerto del Carmen)

The Music Hall Tavern in Puerto del Carmen will be performing their Christmas panto, Cinderella on Friday & Saturday nights from the 14th December.

14th December Christmas Lantern Parade (Playa Blanca)

The parade has been organised by the Lanzarote Business Association. Meet at the Irish Anvil bar at Punta Limones near the harbour at 17:30 to start walking at 18:00. The parade will stop to sing Christmas carols along the way, finishing in the square where a market will be held with live entertainment.

14th December Christmas Party Night (Puerto del Carmen)

The Costa Sal in Matagorda are hosting a Christmas Party Night with carvery dinner and entertainment from 19:00 – 01:00. Tickets €15.

14th December Christmas Party Night (San Bartolomé)

A special evening to celebrate Christmas with a group at the Monumento al Campesino, dinner is priced at €35 per person including entertainment until 03:00.

14th December Christmas Concert (Yaiza)

A Christmas Concert will be held at 19:00 in the Casa Benito Pérez Armas in Yaiza with performances from the Rancho de Pascua de Yaiza, Parranda Janubio and Agrupación Rubicón.

14th December Nativity Unveiling (Yaiza)

The Nativity scene (Portal de Belén) will be unveiled at 20:30 in the Plaza de los Remedios in Yaiza, this is the most visited Belén in Lanzarote and includes lots of local architecture and local landscapes.

15th December Mercadillo Benéfico de Navidad (San Bartolomé)

A Christmas charity market from 12:00 – 15:00.

16th December Christmas Carols (Puerto del Carmen)

The Family Church in C.C. Jardines del Puerto invite you to join them for Christmas Carols at 11:00.

16th December Christmas Market & Carols (Yaiza)

A Christmas market will be held in the Plaza de los Remedios in Yaiza from 10:00 – 14:00. At 12:00 after mass there will be choir concert from the Coral de Yaiza in the church, followed by a performance from the municipal band in the plaza at 13:00.

18th December “Ho Ho Ho” Stand up for Christmas comedy night (Puerto del Carmen)

Mojito’s Productions are holding a comedy night at the Bahia Sala de Fiestas in Puerto del Carmen from 19:30. Tickets €25.

18th & 19th December 18 edición de Festival de Gimnasia deNavidad (Tías)

A special Festival of gymnastics and dance for Christmas at 20:00 in the Pabellón Municipal in Tías with students from different clubs in Lanzarote.

20th December Christmas Concert (Arrecife)

The Coral Polifónica is a popular choir from Arrecife, this is their annual Christmas Concert to raise funds for Cáritas Parroquiales who help local families in need. The concert is at 21:00 in the Cine Atlántida which is on the Charco de San Ginés in Arrecife.

20th December Christmas Concert (Arrecife)

The students from the Conservatorio music school in Arrecife are holding their Christmas concert in the Insular theatre at 19:00. Free entry.

20th December Christmas Concert (Tinajo)

The San Roque Church in Tinajo are holding a free Christmas concert with their choir and the municipal band at 20:30.

21st December Christmas with Catlanza (Puerto Calero)

Santa Claus will be sailing with the Catlanza crew with surprise gifts for the children. More info & booking: Catlanza at Christmas

21st December Christmas Party Night (San Bartolomé)

A special evening to celebrate Christmas with a group at the Monumento al Campesino, dinner is priced at €35 per person including entertainment until 03:00.

22nd December Pateada Navideña (Teguise)

The first Pateada Navideña Los Pastores is a walk at 09:00 from the villages in the municipality of Teguise to La Villa, the old capital. Tickets €5

22nd December Christmas Concert (Costa Teguise)

A Christmas Concert will be held in Pueblo Marinero from 18:00 with fun and entertainment for all the family.

23rd December Santa Parade (Puerto del Carmen)

Everyone is welcome to join in the Santa Parade, please dress in costume. Meet outside Cafe del Carmen at 17:30 to walk along the Avenida de las Playas to finish at Keanes Bar by the Fariones Hotel where there will be live music and children’s entertainment until 20:00.

23rd December Paseo Navidad (Playa Blanca)

A Christmas parade will walk from C.C. La Mulata along the Avenida Marítima (promenade) in Playa Blanca at 09:00 to finish at the Plaza del Carmen by the church in the centre of the resort. Participants are invited to come along and join in – don’t forget your Christmas hat! A donation of 1 litre of milk for the food bank would be very welcome.

23rd December Christmas Market (Playa Blanca)

A Christmas market will be held in Calle Limones from 10:00 to 21:00 with typical festive foods and artisan crafts, organised by the Ayuntamiento of Yaiza.

23rd December Father Christmas Visit (Playa Blanca)

Father Christmas will walk along Calle Limones at 18:00 to meet the children.

24th December Christmas Eve Swing (Playa Blanca)

Vocalist Allan Day will be performing an evening of swing for Christmas Eve from 21:00 at Popeyes Sports Bar at Punta Limones in Playa Blanca.

27th December SARA Benefit (Tías)

A special evening of entertainment from 18:00 at the theatre in Tías to raise funds for SARA the animal shelter in Lanzarote. Tickets €3.

31st December Fin de Año (Tinajo)

Celebrate the New Year at Los Dolores in Tinajo from 00:30 – 07:00 organised by Parranda El Geito in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento of Tinajo. Tickets in advance €12 on the night €20.

31st December New Year’s Eve (Puerto del Carmen)

Fiesta with DJ in the Plaza del Varadero (old harbour) Puerto del Carmen 00:30 and firework display on Playa Grande at 01:00

5th January Kings Processions

18:30 Cabalgata de Reyes (Kings Procession) in Tías leaving from the Restaurante Las Viñas passing along Avenida Central and Calle Libertad to the Pabellón Municipal
