Lanzarote was awarded the Best Winter Sun Destination 2014 award by the Irish Travel Agents Association during their gala evening held on Thursday 23rd January.
It’s the fourth time that Lanzarote has won this award, beating off competition from destinations such as Tenerife, Florida, Gran Canaria and Morocco. The UK based promoter of Lanzarote Tourism received the award on behalf of our local representative Carmen Steinart .
Irish visitors account for the third biggest International market for Lanzarote, with 202,760 Irish tourists arriving in Lanzarote during 2013, this figure was 16.3% more than in 2012 which totalled 174,321 visitors.
In previous years, Lanzarote has also won the same recognition from the Irish International Travel Industry (ITT) on six consecutive occasions.
The tourism department at the Cabildo de Lanzarote consider that “this award reinforces the promotional strategy of Lanzarote, and at the same time defines that the island has a privileged position in the Irish market”.
